A Michigan military, veteran & family nonprofit

Where do you go from here? You won't have to find the answer alone.

MI Service Matters is a Michigan nonprofit that connects service members, veterans, spouses, parents, and caregivers to the benefits, care, and community they've earned — one trusted place to start, instead of another phone number, website, or list to figure out alone.

The gap we're closing

The resources exist. The connection is what's missing.

There is a gap in the military and veteran community. The resources exist — the Department of Veterans Affairs, veteran service organizations, nonprofits, and countless community programs. But finding them, understanding them, and actually reaching the right one can be overwhelming, confusing, and fragmented, especially in a moment of crisis.

MI Service Matters is building a bridge across that gap: a centralized hub that connects military-connected individuals and families to the right resource for their situation. We don't replace the organizations already doing this work — we connect people to them, with a warm hand-off instead of another number to chase.

Navigate · Prepare · Stand beside

Three ways we walk alongside you

Whatever stage of the journey you're in, support isn't one phone call — it's a person who helps you find the right door and stays with you through it.

Navigate

Find the right resource — not another list

We help service members, veterans, and families cut through a fragmented system and get connected to the benefits, care, and organizations they've earned — a warm introduction, not another phone number to chase on your own.

Prepare

Know before the moment comes

A deployment, a crisis, a transition, or a loss shouldn't be the first time a family learns how the system works. We help spouses, parents, and caregivers understand what's available and what to ask — before they need it.

Stand beside

Whole-person, whole-family

From mental and physical health to housing, finances, education, employment, caregiving, and survivor support — we walk with the whole family across every stage of the military journey.

The heart of our mission

There needs to be a bridge.

MI Service Matters exists to be that bridge — a centralized hub that connects the military community to the right resource, instead of handing anyone another list to figure out alone.

  • A bridge between service members and their families.
  • A bridge between veterans and the benefits they've earned.
  • A bridge between families and reliable, trustworthy information.
  • A bridge between community organizations and the people they're trying to serve.
  • A bridge between the many resources that already exist — and the people who need them most.

How it works

Start with one question

No intake maze, no runaround. Just a clear path from “I'm not sure where to turn” to a real next step.

01

Start with one question

Reach out with whatever you're facing — a benefit you can't make sense of, an aging parent who served, a transition you're not sure how to begin.

02

We listen to the whole situation

No intake maze. We take the time to understand the person and the family behind the question, not just the paperwork.

03

We connect you to the right resource

A warm introduction to the VA program, veteran service organization, nonprofit, or trusted professional that actually fits — not a list to decode alone.

04

You're not handed off and forgotten

We follow up to make sure the connection landed, and we're here for the next question whenever it comes.

We're building the bridge we wish our family had when our journey began — a place where any service member, veteran, spouse, caregiver, or family member can start with one question, “Where do I go from here?”, and know they won't have to find the answer alone.

Who we're here for

Whoever served — and whoever stood beside them

From the service member to the mother waiting at home, the whole military-connected family is welcome here.

Service members

Active duty, National Guard, and Reserve — plus preparedness for the families standing beside them.

Veterans

Including older veterans who may be entitled to benefits and care they don't yet know exist.

Spouses, parents & families

The people who serve from home — informed, included, and never left without answers.

Caregivers & support persons

Those who carry the load for someone who served, often without a roadmap of their own.

Survivors & Gold Star families

Grieving families navigating benefits and decisions they never expected to face.

Who we serve

Not sure where to start? That's exactly why we're here.

Whether you're a veteran, a service member, a spouse or parent, a caregiver, or an organization that wants to help — reach out. One message is all it takes to begin, and you won't have to find the answer alone.
